Judy's garden: a haven for play and relaxation
Judy Seaborn's garden in Niwot, Colorado, is a picturesque retreat that seamlessly blends functionality with whimsy. As a former owner of seed company Botanical Interests, Judy brought her green thumb expertise to designing her new garden, two years in the making.
Steep slope tamed with terracing and a stream
Judy's terrain presented a challenge, but she transformed the steep slope into a beautiful terraced garden, perfect for showcasing various plantings. A meandering stream curves and steps down through the upper garden, accented with red boulders, before dropping into a small rocky pool beneath the deck. This water feature creates a soothing atmosphere and attracts butterflies and bumblebees.
Judy has thoughtfully designed the garden to be an inviting space for both relaxation and play. In the fairy garden section, her grandchildren can enjoy two large tables, perfect for imaginative play. Nearby, a repurposed red wagon atop an old sewing machine base now serves as a fun water table with the addition of a spigot.

Lounging and dining in style
Judy's garden boasts several cozy seating areas, including a shaded patio under the deck that offers a picturesque view of the water feature. Here, she's created a focal-point lounging space with a woven steel arbor, inside which hangs an egg chair. The stone pavers keep the interior tidy, making it an ideal spot to unwind and take in the naturalbeauty surrounding it.
